BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington City Council members will vote Monday night whether to give City Manager Tim Gleason a pay raise after he received rave reviews for his first year running the city government.
Mayor Tari Renner is recommending Gleason receive a 3.5 percent pay increase, retroactive to July 23, which would boost Gleason’s annual salary to $191,475. Gleason would also get an extra week of vacation.
A report to the council reveals Gleason achieved the highest possible ranking, as his performance exceeded expectations.
Gleason’s first yearly performance review comes as he makes one of his most important decisions so far. He’s choosing between two finalists vying to become the city’s next police chief.
Gleason is expected to name Assistant Bloomington Police Chief Dan Donath or Parkland College Chief and retired State Police Captain William Colbrook to the post early next week.
