NORMAL – Two new members on the Illinois State University Board of Trustees are honored and excited to be serving their alma mater.
Kathy Bohn and Bob Navarro were appointed as board members by Gov. JB Pritzker in May. They were officially sworn at the governing board’s meeting last week.
“As a trustee I want to focus on fundraising because tuition keeps going up and that makes things more expensive for students,” said Bohn. “I think diversity is also important, we really have to be an inclusive university and I think we’re making great strides in that area, but I think we need to keep progressing.”
Bohn is a physician and partner at the Vein Specialists in Bloomington. She served as a member on ISU’s Alumni Association Board of Directors.
“Serving on the board I want to make sure I’m advocating for faculty, staff and President Larry Dietz,” said Navaroo. “I also want to make sure we are doing our best for the campus community.”
Navaroo is the president and CEO of Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau in Joliet. He earned three degrees from ISU, completing his doctorate in 2002. He’s also a founding member of ISU’s Latino Alumni Network.
In the new trustees first meeting, the board approved a small business incubator that will be housed in the yet-to-be constructed Trail East building in Uptown Normal.
