Bloomington man charged with drug induced homicide

BLOOMINGTON – A local man has been charged with federal charges for drug induced homicide.

After a long-term investigation by BPD’s Criminal Investigation Division, Jacob Schultz, 34, of Bloomington, was arrested and charged with distribution of heroin resulting in death and distribution of heroin.

Jacob has been remanded into federal custody.

The arrest originated from a death investigation that began in Jan. of last year, which occurred in the 600 block of S. McClun St. McLean County Coroner Dr. Kathleen Yoder identified the deceased as George Darnell, 44, of Bloomington.

The McLean County Coroner’s Office determined that Darnell died as a result of a drug overdose.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no other information will be released at this time.
