SPRINGFIELD – The Reproductive Health Act is now law.
Sponsoring State Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) says her abortion saved her life and allowed her to have children.
“Two of my boys are here with me today,” Cassidy said at Wednesday’s bill-signing ceremony in Chicago, “and, frankly, they are the very embodiment of what access to the full range of reproductive health care means.”
Anti-abortion advocate Peter Breen, a former state representative who is senior counsel to the Thomas More Society, was nearby and ready to speak to reporters.
“You are talking about dismemberment abortions of viable preemies. That will now be legal in Illinois,” Breen said. “The other handful of states that have started that have become destinations.”
Of course, that’s fine with Gov. JB Pritzker.
The pro-choice groups in Illinois say their next target is the parental notification law.
