SPRINGFIELD – For what’s described as historic flooding in Illinois, Gov. JB Pritzker is activating 200 National Guardsmen and -women to assist. The area is mainly along the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.
“There are places where we have serious concerns about entire communities being cut off from the evacuation routes,” said Alicia Tate-Nadeau, acting director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. “That’s why our focus is really on our critical infrastructure.”
Tate-Nadeau, the adjutant general, and the directors of the Departments of Transportation and Agriculture appeared with the governor at the announcement Thursday at IEMA headquarters in Springfield.
