NORMAL – The director of the McLean County Regional Planning Commission is leaving for a job with Normal’s town government.

Vasudha Gadhiraju will become Normal’s director of innovation and technology in August at an annual salary of $126,000.

“Ms. Gadhiraju has left a remarkable impact on the community during her tenure as executive director of McLean County Regional Planning and we are very fortunate to bring her vision and passion to our organization,” said City Manager Pam Reece in a statement.

Gadhiraju will replace Mindy Dance, who is retiring next March as Director of IT.

“This presents a wonderful opportunity to help guide the Town toward the goals identified in the Comprehensive Plan and allows me to serve this community and have an active role in the Town’s future successes,” said Gadhiraju.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
