NORMAL – McLean County prosecutors Wednesday filed charges in a Tuesday night robbery and beating in Normal.
Normal Police arrested Kemondrae King, 19, of Bloomington, and a 17-year old boy, who will be tried as a juvenile, for allegedly beating and robbing an 18-year old woman Tuesday night at the Amanda Brooke Apartments on E. College Ave. in Normal.
The woman was not seriously hurt. Police Chief Rick Bleichner said King and the 17-year old claimed they had a gun, although they didn’t display a weapon. They allegedly beat her when she refused to give them a ride.
Bleichner said the two forced her out of the car, took her cell phone and pursue and drove off. Police found the car about a block away and also recovered the stolen items.
King is charged in adult court with aggravated battery, robbery and theft.
A judge set bail at $50,000, meaning King has to post $5,000 to be released from jail.
