DWIGHT – Though there will be no vote on the deal between Immigrations Center of America and the Village of Dwight for a proposed ICE facility at tonight’s board meeting, No ICE Dwight is still calling for protests.
The activist group wishes to reiterate their stance on the possible privately run detention center, and therefore will still protest despite the vote being tabled, according to a statement on their Facebook page.
The proposed building sight is about 30 miles west of Kankakee, which already houses an ICE facility.
Representatives of the ICA had requested the postponement in a letter sent to the board last Friday, and the vote is currently rescheduled for the March 11 meeting.
