BLOOMINGTON – Voters will soon be hearing more from candidates running in the April 2nd local elections, including a face-to-face meeting a week from Sunday between the two people vying for alderman to represent Bloomington’s southwest side.
Donna Boelen and Georgene Chissell are running for the Ward 2 alderman, a seat now held by David Sage, who’s not running for re-election.
The League of Women Voters debate is scheduled for February 10 at 6 p.m. at the Luther Oaks retirement community at 601 Lutz Rd.
Prior to that event, all city candidates have been invited to a forum scheduled Saturday morning organized by the McLean County Republican Party, to be held at the Double Tree Hotel and Conference Center at 10 Brickyard Dr.
City elections are nonpartisan, but local GOP leaders have invited the candidates to share their platforms and answer questions. The event is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m., and the cost for brunch is $12.
Bloomington voters in April will choose aldermen in Wards 2, 4, 6, and 8. At least three wards will have new aldermen because incumbents decided they’re not seeking re-election.
