Bitterly cold wind chills Thursday night across Central Illinois

BLOOMINGTON – The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory starting at 6 p.m. Thursday for all of Central Illinois.

A wind chill advisory means that cold air and wind will combine to create low wind chills.

Wind chills are expected to reach 15 to 30 degrees below zero in counties including McLean, Logan, DeWitt, Tazewell, Piatt, Champaign and Woodford.

Forecasters are advising to take precaution and wear proper winter clothing.  The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

The wind chill advisory is in effect until noon Friday.
