LOGAN COUNTY– The National Weather Service is warning that freezing drizzle is making travel hazardous for motorists and even for walkers in our listening area.
Multiple weather-related crashes are being reported by State Police on Interstate 55 from mile marker 136 to Mile marker 140 (Lincoln to Atlanta).
I-55 is covered in ice with authorities reporting the northbound left lane is closed and will stay that way for a couple hours.
You are urged to slow down and use caution.
The freezing drizzle from low clouds and thickening fog can cause slick surfaces on untreated roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
Overnight in Normal,Public Works crews worked in Uptown removing excess snow from the weekend storm.
Snow removal in Downtown Bloomington will happen tonight from 11 p.m….through 6 a.m. Wednesday. Motorists can not park on downtown streets. They’re asked instead to park in the Lincoln or Market Street garages.
