Two men remain hospitalized after I-74 crash

BLOOMINGTON – Unit 5 has released information about the bus driver from Wednesday night’s crash on I-74.

Mark Kuhn, 64, was the driver of the Normal West bus carrying the junior varsity girl’s basketball team.  Kuhn remains in critical condition Friday according to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

In a Facebook post, Unit 5 said Kuhn has been driving with the bus company First Student since 2016 and is a grandparent to three Unit 5 graduates.

Coach Steve Price is in fair condition Friday after suffering multiple broken bones.

All eight girls involved in the accident have been released from the hospital.

Two deaths resulted from the accident, 72-year old team volunteer Charlie Crabtree and the driver of the semi 34-year old Ryan Hute of Iowa.

Illinois State Police said the crash remains under investigation.
