BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington Police and FBI probe into child pornography ends in a federal prison sentence for a Ford County man.
A federal judge sentenced 32-year old Kenneth Slater of Paxton to 10 years in prison for his guilty plea to receiving and possessing child pornography.
Authorities arrested Slater last January in Paxton and a grand jury indicted him on the charges a month later.
The judge also ordered Slater to pay a $6,000 restitution to two victims.
Slater pleaded guilty to the charges in July. The U.S. Attorney’s office said the case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort launched in 2006 to combat sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
