BLOOMINGTON – Two Bloomington natives have been chosen to serve as associate judges on the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, which covers McLean County.

Circuit judges on Thursday picked Scott Kording and Scott Black to fill the positions.

The judgeships became available after the retirement of Associate Judges David Butler and Lee Ann Hill.

Kording attended Illinois State University as an undergraduate and received a law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law. Kording is currently an attorney at the law firm of Meyer Capel.

“For this honor and the opportunity to serve the public in a new way, I am sincerely grateful,” said Kording in a statement.

Black, who is not the Bloomington alderman, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois. Black obtained a law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law as he currently is employed with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit covers McLean, Livingston, Logan, Woodford, and Ford Counties.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…
