NORMAL – Illinois State University’s governing board will decide Friday whether to award President Larry Dietz a bonus after giving him a glowing performance review.
The three-year contract with Dietz, approved by ISU’s Board of Trustees in August of last year, pays him a yearly $375,000 salary. He’s eligible under that contract for an annual performance bonus of up to $50,000.
The trustees’ latest performance review said Dietz either exceeded expectations or made “admirable progress” on seven of nine goals.
In a memo, the board noted Dietz was a “relentless advocate” for ISU with state and national government stakeholders, and a leader for his work with other Illinois public university presidents.
Trustees commended him for partnering with Bloomington-Normal leaders, a new cyber-security program, and his work with the INTO program aiding international students.
Dietz has been ISU’s president since 2014.
