NORMAL – The Normal Town Council has filled a vacancy on the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority, which oversees operations at Central Illinois Regional Airport.
The council confirmed Mayor Chris Koos’ appointment of Nick Moran, who’s a Vice President of Commerce Bank’s commercial banking group in Bloomington.
Moran replaces Beth Whisman, who resigned last April after she became executive director of Normal’s cultural arts department.
The airport board’s attorney advised that Whisman could not do both jobs, even though Normal’s town attorney believed there was no conflict of interest.
Moran has worked at Commerce Bank for 17 years, is an American Red Cross board member, was a member of Normal’s 2040 Vision Committee, and volunteers for several other community organizations.
Moran’s wife Kathy serves in the U.S. Air Force.
The Airport Authority has seven members, including two representatives from Normal. Moran will serve a four-year term.
