Peoria man pleads guilty to murder of Normal resident

BLOOMINGTON – A Peoria man pleaded guilty to murder on Tuesday in connection with the December 2016 murder and kidnapping of a Normal resident.

Danny Smith Jr. pleaded to a single count of murder in the McLean County Court responsible for the death of Maunds Bryant, a 41-year-old from Normal. Bryant was kidnapped from his home in Normal and suffered a head injury during the altercation. He would later die at a Peoria Hospital.

Smith will be sentenced on November 20 by McLean County Judge Casey Costigan and will face a possible 20-60 years in prison.
