BLOOMINGTON – The chief executive officer of Country Financial has announced his retirement.

Country has announced Kurt Bock will retire on January 31, 2019 after seven years as CEO. Bock is credited with leading Country through technological expansion, transitioning from regulatory oversight from the Federal Reserve and facilitating the merger of two insurance companies into Country Financial.

Bock was also on the Treasury Department’s Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance and testified to House and Senate sub-committees on insurance and financial matters. Before moving to the private sector, he served in Air Force for 28 years, reaching the rank of colonel.

“With all the changes underway driving technology and innovation at COUNTRY Financial, I am extremely proud that we keep our focus on the customer and on the people who take care of them,” said Bock in a statement.  “I am very proud to be a part of this industry and all we do to protect customers and secure futures. For me, there has been no better or nobler purpose.”

A search for Bock’s successor has begun.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
