A missing pooch named Kane has been gone for more than a week and his owner would love to have him back.
He belongs to Jean Ann Hert who runs Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat in rural McLean.
Known as the mascot of the organization, the Rottweiler went missing on August 14.
Hert said they’ve left no stone unturned in their search.
“We’ve been through ditches. We’ve looked in fields as much as we can. Two drones have been out. We’ve had a search dog out. There is just no clue. He’s just gone and we have no leads as to where to look,” she said.
Hert rescued Kane and five other dogs seven years ago from a shelter in Texas.
All the other dogs rescued were adopted by loving homes, but Kane stayed right by Hert’s side until last week when he disappeared.
There’s a reward for the family friend and it grows everyday from the original offer of $500.
“I know the reward was up to $1,050 and I’ve had a couple more people say that they would also chip in to that reward for his return,” Hert said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat Facebook page, or call 309-660-6790.
