NORMAL – A Unit 5 board vacancy will be filled by an academic adviser at Illinois State University.

The district announced Tuesday afternoon that board members have chosen Dr. Kelly Pyle to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Joe Cleary.

Pyle has lived in Normal for 10 years. Before moving into her current position at ISU, she was the Director for Clinical Experiences in Audiology at the university. She is married and has two sons attending Grove Elementary School.

Pyle has been involved with the Unit 5 Citizens Advisory Council as well as the Grove PTO and chess club. She was chosen from six applicants.

“Kelly’s passion for education and desire to serve the citizens and students of Unit 5 will make her an asset to the Board and the District as we strive to educate each student to achieve personal excellence,” said Board President Barry Hitchins in a release.
