BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a man suspected of impersonating a police officer.
A statement on the Sheriff Department’s Facebook page says over the weekend, the suspect used flashing lights to pull over a potential victim on 700 North Road between 1900 East Road and 1600 East Road south of Bloomington. The suspect approached the victim’s car and attempted to subdue them, but the victim managed to drive away and had no further contact with the suspect.
The vehicle used by the suspect is described as a mid-size black four-door car with blue lights in the front and back windows. The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s with a thin build. The Sheriff’s Department says after making contact with local fire departments, the suspect doesn’t appear to be a member of those agencies.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the McLean County Sheriff’s Department at (309) 888-5019, Detective Dave Fritts at (309) 888-5087, or McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.
