NORMAL – After a dog tested positive for the Parvo Virus on Saturday the Humane Society of Central Illinois has announced that it will be closed on Thursday to all dog-caring volunteers and potential adopters of dogs.
According to a statement released by HSCI on their website, the closure is for the staff to tackle the problem proactively and aggressively with deep cleaning the areas of the shelter which may have been exposed.
The Humane Society, located at 423 Kays Drive in Normal, said they will monitor all pets for extra safety.
“Pets are being monitored for any symptoms. We appreciate all of our supporters and adopters and ask for your patience with our effort to protect the shelter population. Thank you so much for your understanding and patience,” said the statement.
“We would appreciate donations of bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, and antibacterial dish soap. Leave donations at the front door. Monetary donations may be made to the ASAP Fund. Thank you for your support,” added the statement.
