
FAIRBURY – Virgil H. Hulse, 83, Fairbury, passed away at 4:06pm, Sunday, June 24, 2018 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Normal.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury with Pastor Tom Krieger officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service with a private family inurnment at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Dominy Memorial Library, both of Fairbury.
Virgil was born September 28, 1934, the son of George H. and Frieda Hopman Hulse in rural Iroquois County. He married Shirley McDermott on April 10, 1955 in Newman. She survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah (Norm) Lopez and Linda (George) Guminski both of Normal; one son, David (Donna Hustedt) Hulse of Paxton; one sister, Evelyn Johnson of Danforth; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Loretta Crabtree.
Virgil was a graduate of Cissna Park High School and attended two years at Illinois Commercial College, Champaign where he met the love of his life. He was employed as an accountant at Central Soya in Gibson City, Honegger’s, Inc. in Fairbury, and later worked at Citizens Savings Bank in Fairbury.
