CLINTON – The City of Clinton will be losing its Walmart next month.
The Clinton Journal reports the store and pharmacy will close on July 20. The store employs around 70 people, who are expected to be paid through the end of August. Any employee who wishes to remain employed with Walmart is expected to receive assistance in transferring to a new location.
Customers of the pharmacy will have their information and records sent to other pharmacies.
The store opened in 1983. It’s not yet known what will become of the retail space when the store closes.
WJBC staff have reached out to the City of Clinton and Walmart’s media relations division for comment.
