BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington Citizen’s Beautification Committee is looking for well-kept homes and businesses for its annual Beautification Awards.
The nearly 30-year tradition recognizes those who make an extra effort to beautify the city.
Committee chairwoman Robin VanDermay says most winners are unknowingly nominated by a neighbor or family member.
“Usually when we’re out driving around to do our voting,” VanDermay started. “When you turn on to the street you immediately see the one that’s taken extra care and that house just stands out. [The award is] kind of meant as a thank you for your effort and for putting so much into the appearance of your home.”
The city is accepting nominations now through June 22.
“If you take a little more pride in your space that helps the city take more pride in its appearance,” VanDermay added.
