HARTSBURG – Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a Sunday morning blaze that displaced a rural Logan County family.
Ten rural fire departments battled the blaze that destroyed a mobile home, a nearby barn and multiple vehicles inside.
Crews were called to the home at 93421 50th St. in rural Hartsburg at 11:10 a.m.
Fire Chief for the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District Chris Buse said residents reported hearing a loud ‘boom’ inside the barn.
“The fire itself and the smoke could be seen for quite a distance away,” Buse said adding he spoke with residents of the fire department in Sherman 30 miles south who reported seeing the fire.
Buse said no one was inside when the fire broke out and no one was injured. He said there’s no damage estimate available yet.
“There were tractors and vehicles and things like that inside the barn as well as their belongings inside the house trailer (that were destroyed),” Buse said.
