NORMAL – Ecology Action Center in Normal is rebooting its Solar Bloomington-Normal program. The program saw so much success in 2016, that the EAC partnered with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association to bring solar powered energy to Bloomington Normal once again.
“We had a lot of fun doing the program in 2016,” Larissa Armstrong, Assistant Director of the EAC, said. “So as long as there is a need for it, we are happy to help our community access solar.”
The Solar Bloomington-Normal 2.0 program makes solar energy more affordable due to volume purchasing.
Armstrong said there has been an increase in interest of solar power.
“Because Illinois passed the Future Energy Jobs Act a little over a year ago,” started Armstrong. “I think that really boosted incentive for people to participate both on the installer side and on the customer side.”
The program launches May 19 with a solar open house, and runs through the summer until Aug. 31.
