NORMAL – A manufacturer plans to bring about 50 jobs to the community when it opens a plant in Normal later this year.
American Precision Assemblers is purchasing a facility along Old Route 66 in northeast Normal according to a release from the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council. The company makes wire harnesses and cable and mechanical assemblies for a variety of industries including healthcare, aircraft, automotive and the military.
A company representative said the plant in Normal will primarily focus on supplying the Precision Planting operation in Tremont. The company says 30 to 40 assemblers and 10 to 15 support and office personnel will work at the Normal facility. No hiring timeline was given.
APA is headquartered in Hampshire, Illinois and has three other plants in Duluth, Minnesota; Sonora, Mexico; and its home base in northeast Illinois.
