Edge to host coaching clinic, college recruiting showcase

BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Edge has partnered with the Bloomington-Normal Athlete factory to host a free high school football coaching clinic in conjunction with the Central Illinois High School Recruiting Showcase.

The coaching clinic will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Chateau Hotel, 1621 Jumer Dr.

Guest speakers include Mike Harris, Saint Francis Defensive Line Coach; Buck Blasco, Pikeville Quarterback Coach; Shane Dierking, North Central College Defensive Coordinator and Todd Drury, Missouri S&T Defensive Coordinator.

The Central Illinois High School Recruiting Showcase will take place Saturday at Normal Community High School, 3900 E. Raab Rd., Normal. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the drills scheduled to start at 10:00am. This event will give high school football players who are interested in playing collegiately the opportunity to meet and be evaluated by college coaches.

Colleges and universities who have agreed to attend include Illinois State, Ferris State, St. Francis University, McKendree, Missouri S&T, Millikin, Augustana, Greenville, Hillsdale, Knox, MacMurray, North Central, Rockford, and Trine.

The session will include a dynamic warm-up led by the Bloomington-Normal Athlete Factory coaches, laser timed 40-yard dash, vertical jump test, broad jump, position specific NFL combine drills, and one-on-one’s.

Register before the showcase for a rate of $25, or register the day of the event for $30.
