Donors pledge $81,500 for Home Sweet Home’s May Community Challenge

BLOOMINGTON – Home Sweet Home Ministries’ donors pledged $81,500 for its May Community Challenge.

The homeless shelter is encouraging the community to match the pledged amount to fund its food pantry, housing and other services the shelter provides.

Leslie Bunge from the shelter said Home Sweet Home houses about 70 people per night and feeds about 300 in one day.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone in the community to double their impact and really make a difference for Home Sweet Home,” said Bunge. “Every dollar counts because even just ten dollars provides a days worth of meals for someone at our shelter.”

“Just from last year alone, those that we served, almost half of them were able to maintain their housing and employment.”
