ATLANTA – A late Monday morning fire in Atlanta has heavily damaged two adjacent trailer homes and a vehicle.
Atlanta Fire Chief Rick Cheek said crews were called to Sherman Court before 11 a.m.
“Three explosions and a trailer on fire,” said Chief Cheek. “Then, I’m going to guess, somewhere around the minute two minute mark it was upgraded to two trailers and a vehicle.”
Firefighters controlled the blaze in about an hour. Cheek says at least two occupants of one trailer were home at the time. One woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment although the chief said she did not appear to be injured by the fire. No other injuries were reported.
“The smoke was definitely an issue because this is the only place that they could set the rig. Both trailers were burning very intensely. Lots and lots of fire.”
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
Firefighters from Lincoln city and rural departments as well as Armington, Beason, Hartsburg, Heyworth and Waynesville responded.
