FARMER CITY – A teenager is in custody and another is in a hospital after a dispute resulted in one youth shooting the other Wednesday afternoon in Farmer City.
The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department reports the shooting occurred before 3 p.m. on the street in the 300 block of West Green Street. The department says the 17-year-old victim is being treated at Carle Hospital in Urbana but no condition is available.
Farmer City Police Chief Terry Scott says the 17-year-old suspect is in custody. Any witnesses to the shooting are asked to call Farmer City Police at 309-928-2111.
Farmer City Police, the DeWitt County Sheriff’s office and state police are investigating.
