GIBSON CITY – The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School community is mourning the death of a student in a Saturday traffic crash.
Dylan Benningfield, 17, died Saturday morning at the scene of the head-on accident about four miles north of Gibson City on a county road just west of Route 47 according to the Ford County coroner’s office. The school says he was a junior at GCMS. His younger brother Logan was flown to an Urbana hospital in stable condition according to the coroner’s office. The youths were in a vehicle that collided with a fertilizer truck
Through the school’s Facebook page, Superintendent Jeremy Darnell said support personnel for students and staff will be available today at GCMS High School. He also said support efforts can be directed to the high school office.
