CHICAGO – The family of a former El Paso-Gridley school student has been awarded $250,000 in a bullying case.
WGN-TV reports it’s one of the largest ever returned in a bullying lawsuit in Illinois. The family sued the school district claiming it allowed the repeated attacks on the boy and that the bus driver was indifferent to the pattern of attacks in 2012 and 2013.
Video of one incident in which the boy was beaten on the bus surfaced in 2014.
The boy who was 13 at the time has a neurological disorder. The family has since moved to Texas.
