BLOOMINGTON – An attorney for the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority has filed court papers to take possession of the CJ’s Restaurant property.

According to a complaint filed in McLean County Court last month, the restaurant and catering service that have been in business for more than 20 years has fallen behind “a significant amount of money” in the rent it owes the authority which run Central Illinois Regional Airport.

In a new request filed with the court Tuesday, the airport authority is seeking a default judgment against CJs that would turn over the building back to the airport.

Restaurant owner Peter Goranitis has not responded to the complaint filed in McLean County Court within the required 30 days, which expired Tuesday. He has not returned messages to WJBC seeking comment.

CJ’s has been located at the former airport terminal location off East Empire Street for 10 years.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
