BLOOMINGTON – Veteran McLean County Board member Paul Segobiano is exploring his political options after his defeat in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary, and he’s not ruling out a challenge this fall to the candidate who soundly defeated him.
Speaking with WJBC’s Sam Wood, Segobiano said he’s been approached by other board members, county department heads, and people outside county government, and he’s listening to what they have to say.
“I have a lot of respect for being a Democrat and serving on the Democratic Party. I’m not going to do anything crazy to jeopardize that, but I will listen to what they want me to consider and what they may offer,” Segobiano said during an appearance on WJBC’s Afternoon Report.
Newcomer Shayna Watchinski garnered 70 percent of the primary vote. Segobiano declined to comment about her candidacy.
Segobiano, a Democrat, has represented Bloomington’s west side for more than 40 years.
Libertarian Steve Suess is also seeking the District 8 county board seat.
