CHICAGO – Gov. Bruce Rauner will be traveling to Europe next month for his next trade mission.
The governor has been to Japan, China and Israel to promote the state and now has Europe in his sights. Rauner said his first stop will be in Poland.
“I am deeply honored by the opportunity and I look forward to expanding the friendship and the partnership between the people of Poland and the people of Illinois,” Rauner said.
Speaking at the Illinois Holocaust Museum’s humanitarian awards dinner, Rauner said the trip to promote the state and forge partnerships will begin in Poland.
“The first place that I will visit is to the death camp as Auschwitz,” Rauner said. “I want to show that the people of Illinois will never forget and will always honor the memory of those victims of that terrible place.
Rauner will reportedly also visit Germany and the United Kingdom.
