NORMAL – The Children’s Discovery Museum has unveiled its new logo.
‘Inspire the love of learning through the power of play’ is the mission statement that the Children’s Discovery Museum has had since the beginning of its existence. Museum director Beth Whisman said a new logo does not change that, but it rather enhances the statement.
“We actually worked with business builders to create this new design that very specifically addresses the art, science, and hands-on activities that are happening in the space. Our new logo really reflects that better,” said Whisman.
Whisman adds that the Normal community should be aware of what is happening at the museum as they play a big part in the changes.
“The Town of Normal operates the museum and that is a public investment in education and access to high quality opportunities for families, so hopefully the community is aware of it because they’re helping us do this,” Whisman said.
The budget for the rebrand came to about $47,000. The museum did not ask for any new money but stuck to its traditional marketing budget after prioritizing the logo above other cost expenses.
Whisman said the museum is always looking for new activities and programming. The museum has most recently introduced a new pollination exhibit as well as a ‘Rig-a-ma-jig’ that allows children to build and create items from their own imagination.
