PONTIAC – To come into Pontiac and sell door to door, businesses have to go through a strict application process, and not all businesses are granted permits.
Pontiac Mayor Bob Russell admitted that unauthorized peddlers have been driven out of Pontiac on several instances, but there were some looking to convince people to sign up with an aggregate power supplier that were recently approved, which still comes with a warning from the City.
“When we give a peddler’s permit, we have to check out the company, they have to tell us who their salespeople are and we have to do a background check on every one of them, because we don’t want people who aren’t approved knocking on people’s doors,” Russell explained. “This one met all the qualifications, so starting here in a couple of weeks, this group will be in town for about four days days, knocking on doors.”
Russell said the city already has an electric aggregation plan.
