BLOOMINGTON – Four people were hospitalized after a car collided with a Unit 5 school bus carrying 46 kids on US Route 150 and Abraham Road Wednesday near Evans Junior High.
District 6 Police reported the 17-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Jetta bypassed a stop sign at the intersection and hit the school bus which was going eastbound on Route 150. The collision caused the school bus full of students to overturn, prompting a lengthy traffic backup and efforts to get the kids out of the bus.
Three unnamed students and the bus driver, Richard Sage Jr., 52, were taken to OSF St. Joseph, while the driver of the Jetta was taken to Advocate BroMenn.
