UPDATE: Fairbury man dies in Livingston County crash

PONTIAC – A Fairbury man was killed in a crash between his car and a semi-tractor trailer on Illinois Route 47, south of Dwight.

Douglas Benge, 59, was killed when his southbound car crossed the center line and collided with a northbound semi at about 6 p.m. Thursday, according to Livingston County Coroner Danny Watson.

The coroner pronounced Benge dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.

The coroner’s office, Illinois State Police, and the state’s crash reconstruction team are investigating.
