After more than seven years and nearly 12 million dollars already spent, expansions to Bloomington’s Westminster Village held a ribbon cutting today opening a new wing to the facility.

As an added bonus, the Illinois State University French horn choir led by instructor Lauren Hunt played Christmas music to the senior citizens in attendance of the big event.

The concert preceded the unveiling of a new entrance to the central building as well as expansions to five other buildings, four of which are now completed.

Barbara Nathan, Chief Executive Officer of Westminster Village says while the construction is in the first phase; everyone of their residents feels good about the direction the organization is heading.

“I think that everyone is really excited about this. You know first and foremost, we feel blessed as an organization. It’s an organization that’s served Bloomington for 39 years, so we’re getting it ready for the next 39,” said Nathan.

Going forward Nathan says the Martin Health Center is projected to be completely finished by 2019, with the last phase adding additional living units and a new assisted living building.

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing.
