LIVINGSTON – News of many kinds of bullying makes headlines across the world on a daily basis, and the local Boys and Girls Clubs have decided to focus on anti-bullying measures, focusing on younger than average students.

Jody Martin is the interim CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Livingston County and Prairie Central and she said they are going to try a different route.

“I talked to Joe Reilly, he’s our athletic director, and he said it was time for us to do something more consistent,” said Martin.

Martin explains since children are impressionable at a young age, it’s important to teach them respectful behavior early.

“That’s when they start to get rambunctious and we really want to teach them the proper way to be respectful to each other,” Martin explained.

Martin was a guest on a recent Community Forum, which can be found at WJEZ.com.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
