Texas man arrested in Fairbury for unlawful guns

Fairbury Police have arrested a Texas man on felony charges after multiple guns and ammunition were allegedly found inside his semi trailer after a traffic stop in Forrest.

Fairbury Police Chief Mark Travis said Francisco Rios Mendez of Dallas was pulled over at Center and Church Streets in Forrest for a speeding violation.

During the stop, officers say they found an unloaded AK-47 semi-automatic rifle, a loaded Glock 9 millimeter pistol, an unloaded S-and-W revolver, and multiple loaded rifle and pistol magazines along with .357 ammunition.

Pontiac Police and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department assisted Fairbury Police in making the arrest.
