Clinton couple killed in US 51 crash

CLINTON – Clinton residents are mourning the death of a couple who died in a crash on Saturday afternoon.

DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice said Anthony Hable and his wife Karen Hable, both 57, were killed in the crash on U.S. Route 51 near Clinton. The couple was headed northbound on 51 when a semi loaded with grain was crossing into northbound traffic off Autumn Road to head south and collided with the car shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday.

Rice said the Hables were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was unhurt.

Illinois State Police and the authorities in DeWitt County are investigating.
