SPRINGFIELD – Veterans Parkway in Bloomington-Normal and a Bloomington post office are closer to carrying the name of a fallen soldier.
The Illinois House has unanimously passed a resolution designating the entire length of Veterans Parkway as Army Ranger Sergeant Joshua P. Rodgers Memorial Highway. Rodgers died on April 27th while on active duty in Afghanistan. State Rep. Dan Brady (R-Bloomington) presented the resolution on the House floor.
The resolution now goes to the Senate.
U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Peoria) introduced a resolution to rename the post office on Towanda Avenue in Bloomington in Rodgers’ honor. That measure heads to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
