BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Coroner said it was a Springfield man killed in a rollover crash on I-55 near Bloomington late Monday night.
Coroner Kathy Davis said preliminary autopsy results showed John Brillhart, 45, died from multiple blunt injuries.
Authorities said Brillhart was driving his sports utility vehicle at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway on northbound I-55, a mile south of Veterans Parkway, shortly after 11 o’clock.
Davis said toxicology tests are being done to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The coroner’s office and Illinois State Police are investigating.
It’s the second fatal crash in McLean County in recent days. Early Saturday, David Stiles, 19, of Bloomington was killed when the pick-up truck he was driving went off a county road near Downs and struck a tree.
