SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner paid nearly $23 million in federal and state taxes last year, according to his office which released his 2016 tax returns.
Total state taxable income for the governor and First Lady Diana Rauner was $90.4 million while he claimed $17 million in deductions. Meanwhile, the Rauner’s family foundation made more than $6.6 million in charitable contributions.
The venture capitalist turned elected official doesn’t accept a salary as governor.
