NORMAL – A boil order has been issued for Royal Acres mobile home park at 605 Pine St. after a directional drilling contractor hit a service line on Tuesday afternoon.

The water was shut off while the contractor made repairs. The service was resumed about 3:30 p.m., but the mobile home park remains under a boil order until further notice.

The Town Water Department is taking bacteria samples and will read the sample back in approximately 24 hours.

There will be a further announcement when the boil order is lifted, which town officials hope will be on Wednesday afternoon.

Residents with questions may contact the Normal Water Department at (309) 454-9563.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
