BLOOMINGTON – A local non-profit has received two major donations.
Books to Benefit Bloomington-Normal takes lightly used book donations to then sell in their twice-a-year sale.
Babbitt’s Book Store owner organized a donation of about 7,500 books to the organization from the estate of Robert Soloman.
Some Bloomington residents also held a book drive in memory of a neighbor who died recently. They then donated the 1,000 books they gathered to Books to Benefit.
“Books to Benefit generally has about 25,000 books, so the two of them are another third of what we would usually have in the sale,” Books to Benefit President Jackie Langhoff said. “So it’s quite an impressive amount and this will be a great support from the community, for a really premium sale this year.”
Books to Benefit is taking donations until Oct. 21. It’s used book sale at 360 Wylie Drive, Suite 700 in Normal will be Nov. 2-5.
“We support star adult literacy and youth build mclean county literacy programs,” Langhoff said. “We also have a bake sale during the sale and during that, we raise money to donate to the Heartland Community College Books for Benefit community service scholarship.”
